Bachelor's degree and state exam - undergraduate degree programs
An undergraduate degree program leads to a first university degree that qualifies students for a profession (Bachelor's degree, Bachelor's degree with teacher training, state examination, first legal examination).
Bachelor's degree programs in the natural sciences, economics, computer science, mathematics and psychology are completed at Freie Universität Berlin with a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.), all other Bachelor's degree programs with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.).
Mono bachelor
In a mono bachelor's degree program, one subject is studied, the core subject with a total of 150 CP. The subject study program is supplemented by the area of General professional skills courses (Allgemeine Berufsvorbereitung/ABV) of 30 CP.

Combi bachelor
Combined Bachelor's degree programs consist of a major subject (Kernfach) of 90 CP and one or two minor subject(s) (Modulangebot), 60 CP or two 30 CP. The study program is supplemented by the area of General professional skills courses (Allgemeine Berufsvorbereitung/ABV) of 30 CP.
Depending on the major, the degree is either a B.Sc. or a B.A..
As far as possible, the course components can be selected and combined from a wide range of subjects. The standard period of study is six semesters.

Teacher training programs
The complete teacher training course consists of a Bachelor's degree and the Master of Education degree. The latter corresponds to the 1st state examination and enables the start of the preparatory service (Vorbereitungsdienst/Refendariat).
For elementary school teachers:
Monobachelor's degree with 3 subjects
For secondary school teachers (ISS/Gymnasium):
polyvalent combined Bachelor's degree (B.A or B.Sc. with teacher training)
The study area Lehramtsbezogene Berufswissenschaft (LBW) is an integral part of the teacher training Bachelor's degree programs. In the LBW study area, students must complete 30 CP and acquire basic educational science, language teaching and subject-specific didactic skills

Major subject in a combi bachelor with teacher training
Combined Bachelor's degrees with a teacher training consist of a major subject (Kernfach) of 90 CP and a minor subject (Modulangebot) of 60 CP, with many combinations possible. The standard period of study is 6 semesters.
